Formerly, to do training in herbal medicine, it was necessary to go through medical studies, then some chose to specialize in botany. There are still general practitioners who specialize in botany. For people who wish to use phytotherapy for professional use, it is advisable to have studied medicine or botany before entering a cycle of phytotherapy.

Otherwise, it is better to begin with a cycle of naturopathy, then to specialize in phytotherapy. Herbal medicine belongs to the field of naturopathy and the latter allows to find other answers in medicines, if the herbal medicine is not suitable to such client.

Phytotherapy training for personal purposes

Much less demand in this field, if one wants to know the plants for oneself and by "passion".

You will be able to take an interest in this discipline by consulting the many works dedicated to plants and their therapeutic use, as well as websites, professional shows, etc.

Phytotherapy training: the exempt courses

Whether for professional or personal purposes, the training to be followed is substantially the same.

Most schools offer complete training of 2 to 3 years in total, but it is possible to follow partially. Courses are therefore tailor-made or, depending on the options offered, over a few months.

They are accessible to both professionals and individuals (sometimes with the possibility of taking care of continuing education), but those who wish to do their profession must follow the whole courses and pass a diploma certifying at each level (knowing that the level of requirement will not be the same according to the schools).

Classical herbalist classes, in-class, are preferable to correspondence courses.
