MBA Degree: useful for whom?

The Master of Business Administration (MBA) degree is a special diploma that allows graduates to gain access to key positions in a company or to open up internationally.

MBA degrees are not intended for young people without professional experience.

MBA: a global and international vision

The MBA degree trains managers on the strategic management of a company taking into account the international context and globalization.

The promotions of recognized establishments rely on cultural mix and provide more than half of their courses in English. An MBA allows to meet other executives from around the world and learn to work as a team while managing it.

The MBA degree is intended to highly specialized engineers who wish to open up new know-how to progress towards management positions, doctors, scientists or lawyers who have no notion of management and business management.

Doing an MBA to have an MBA is not a good operation. An MBA is expensive and often rhymes with debt.

Without the will to evolve, the MBA degree will have no impact at the career level. An MBA must imperatively be part of a professional project.

The right reasons to get an MBA degree

The MBA degree allows:

* to change activity or sector;

* to evolve and expand the skills;

* to acquire the managerial skills necessary for professional development;

* to work internationally and facilitate an expatriation;

* to expand the professional network;

* to boost career and salary.

The bad reasons to do an MBA

Here are some bad reasons to do an MBA:

* doing an MBA to have an MBA or to have a better CV: doing an MBA must fit into a professional project.

* doing an MBA without professional experience to directly access the key positions: an MBA is done after an experience of at least 5 years. For the Executive MBA, a 10 years experience is required.

* doing an MBA without wanting to open up abroad: the MBA is an international degree that involves great mobility.

* doing an MBA for the sole purpose of making money: to succeed in your MBA you need the motivation, the will and the means to change your career.

* doing an MBA before taking over a small business: an MBA serves executives of large companies.

The Validation of Acquired Experience (VAE)

Many degrees can be acquired through the Validation of Acquired Experience. However, the MBA is not part of these degrees.

An MBA candidate with many years of experience can validate modules through VAE. Validation of these modules will reduce the number of course hours.

To apply for a VAE, the candidate must initially discuss this with the establishment in which he/she will be enrolled.

Following an interview with the institution's continuing education advisor, he/she must apply to the government.
