Online class and distance training or e-learning is a type of training considered as a subset of open and distance training, oldest notion which includes all distance learning.
E-learning is the use of new multimedia technologies and Internet to improve the quality of online class and training through distance access to resources and services, as well as collaborations and exchanges".
E-learning defines any device of training that uses a LAN, WAN or the Internet to disseminate, communicate or interact, including online class, distributed environment, access to sources by downloading or consultation on the net. It may involve synchronous or asynchronous, tutored systems, systems based on self-training, or a combination of the mentioned elements. The access to resources is considerably expanded as the opportunities for collaboration and interactivity".
E-learning is therefore the result of association:
* of interactive content and multimedia
* of distribution media (PC, internet, intranet, extranet)
* of a set of software tools that enable the management of online training and tools to create interactive training.
