MBA Programs: selection process

Choosing an MBA is a difficult task. The goal is not to get into the best establishment.

Indeed, it is the professional project of the candidate, the tariff applied by the schools and the richness of the programs which guide above all the choice of the training.

A candidate will also be attentive to the network of the institution and the situation of the alumni.

The professional project

Doing an MBA is an investment both financially and personally. Engaging in such training must therefore be a thoughtful act. It is essential to analyze:

* the level of education;

* the professional experience;

* the financial possibility of investment;

* the motivation;

* the real benefit of an MBA;

* the openness to international mobility;

* whether or not to pursue a career in large international companies;

* the impacts on the personal and family life.

Where to do your MBA?

The recognition of an institution is as important as the MBA.

The MBA designation is not protected. It is therefore essential to choose the institution in which the training will be carried out. For information, there are several options for the candidate:

* request documentation directly from the institution;

* inquire about forums;

* visit the establishment;

* read the newspapers.

Once the candidate has gathered this information, he must verify:

* the notoriety of the establishment;

* the accreditations;

* the ranking of the establishment.

What type of MBA?

Since MBA is not for young students, schools have developed a large number of programs to accommodate the largest number of applicants.

The latter may choose from:

* Full-time MBA:

- this is the most common MBA.
- full-time MBA offers full-time courses and requires only 3 to 5 years of professional experience. It is therefore intended for the youngest.
- full-time MBA ends with a 3 to 12 months internship that often serves as a pre-hiring period for the candidate.

* Part-time MBA:

- one student out of two chooses the part-time MBA.
- candidates can maintain their professional activity and take their classes at night or on weekends.
- disadvantage: the promotions are less international.

* Executive MBA:

- this MBA is for executives who already have a decade of experience.
- Executive MBA is a part-time or distance training.
- the program targets case studies and strategic management practice.

* Specialized MBAs:

- these trainings are the most recent.
- the goal of specialized MBA is the same as full-time MBA.
- the candidate selects a sector of activity such as aerospace, human resource management, agri-food...etc.
