Assessing what is no longer bearable at work

First of all, it is necessary to put a finger on what one can not support at work anymore.

To find out if the felt uneasiness has a tangible cause, its source must be found:

* Thus, moral harassment, demands on the limits of legality or ethics, etc. fully justify a departure.

* On the other hand, if one of your behaviors is the source of your discomfort, it may not be the job you need to change but your way of doing it. For example:

- if you are perpetually tired at work, perhaps you should go to bed earlier;
- if you do not feel part of your team, accept aperitifs between colleagues from time to time, etc.

* Also ask yourself if the situation is likely to change: the nuisance created by a trainee will not last!

Make the point on financial situation

To know if you can leave or if it is better to stay, it is important to make the point on your financial situation:

* You currently have a salary every month. A resignation would take away any income and a conventional breach or dismissal would truncate them seriously.

* Will you then have enough resources to cope with everyday life? If your spouse has a good salary, you can probably afford to leave. If not, you must think carefully.

Note: a solution is also to look for a new work in parallel. Even with the risk of the trial period, this option is still safer than leaving your company overnight.

Embedding a career plan

In addition to your financial situation, you must be interested in your professional situation. Managing a career is an art:

* If you change box every 2 years: recruiters will be afraid to deal with a candidate lacking in loyalty.

* If, on the other hand, you have little changed in your job and have remained in the position sufficiently to acquire an interesting experience, this is probably the time to give a new impetus to your career.

Thinking about ways to leave

If you decide to leave, you must ask yourself: how?

* Resignation is not desirable, it removes your rights to unemployment benefits.

* As for dismissal, it is expensive for employers.

* The best solution is to agree on a conventional break.

You should also ask yourself when to solicit this conventional break:

* Is it urgent to leave?

* If this is not the case, take the time to prepare your leaving, starting the process to find a new job and choosing a time when your manager will be well-disposed to make an appointment.

Finally, if your company has caused you real harm, you should also ask yourself if you want to get redress. To do this, you can negotiate an indemnity at the time of your departure or bring the case to the Labour Courts.

Whatever your decision, talk about your situation to your loved ones. Their support, and especially that of your spouse, is essential in these circumstances.
